The MP for Maamigili Constituency Qasim Ibrahim has been elected as the Chairperson of the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee.
He was elected as the chairperson of one of the most vital committees of the Parliament at its first meeting held today. MP for Eydhafushi Constituency Ahmed Saleem proposed the name of MP Qasim as the Chairperson while MP for Baarashu Constituency Ibrahim Shujau seconded the proposal.
MP Saleem then proposed MP Shujau as the Vice Chairperson of the Committee which MP Qasim seconded. Both MP Qasim and MP Shujau were unanimously elected as the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee.
Meanwhile, MP for Eydhafushi Constituency Ahmed Saleem was elected as the Chairperson of the Parliament's Committee on National Security Services.
MP for Hulhudhoo Constituency Ahmed Shahid proposed the name of MP Saleem as the Chairperson while MP for Inguraidhoo Constituency Ibrahim Falah seconded the proposal.
MP Shahid also proposed MP Falah as the Chairperson of the Committee which MP Saleem seconded.
Both MP Saleem and MP Falah were elected to their respective committee posts with votes from 11 MPs on the Committee.
