Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan has announced that the Maldivian cabinet has decided to bring amendments to the Immigration law to ban the entry of Israeli passport holders into the Maldives.
The Minister announced the cabinet's decision at today's emergency press conference at the President's Office.
Minister Ihusan said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been vocal against Israeli aggression and inhumane acts against the civilians of Palestine and has been taking never-before-taken stands on the matter.
He said in addition to these stands and messages, the administration is looking into other practical steps that can be taken on the matter. Minister Ihusan noted that in the cabinet meeting today, it was decided that the administration will bring amendments to the laws to ban Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives.
The Minister said that a special committee of the cabinet has now been formed to facilitate the amendments to the law. He said that the committee includes himself, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, and Attorney General Ahmed Usham.
The Minister also assured that the changes would be brought about swiftly as the current administration now controls the new parliament.
