Police Spokesperson Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan says the police station in Hulhumale is investigating an incident where a taxi driver dropped off his passengers at their original pickup location in anger.
Shifan also said that the police department will take necessary measures under the applicable regulations.
This comes after a woman posted on Facebook chronicling the incident that happened in Hulhumale. The online user said she and her child had taken a taxi from Hulhumale' after a swimming competition to come back to Male'.
She recounted the taxi driver spoke continuously and also spoke on things that did not meet the moral standards. She said the taxi driver then asked whether or not he could pick up another passenger and got angry when she said that the next passenger should be charged from the point she got off at her destination.
The online user said that the taxi driver got very upset over this condition and went on to say that it was between the next passenger who got on and the taxi driver. She further recounted that the taxi driver drove all over Hulhumale and that when no one else hailed down his taxi dropped off her and her child at their original pickup location saying that he had no other option but to drop off them even if they said that he was a bad person or if they harmed him.
The online user lamented the incident questioning the integrity and humanity of the taxi driver.
