President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged the country to vote as early as they can in today's Parliamentary elections and not to stay till the last minute.

He made the remarks in comments to the media after casting his vote at a ballot box placed in Thaajudheen school earlier today.

The President said that voting is a right and responsibility of all eligible voters. He urged all to cast their ballots as early as they could and not to wait till evening to cast their votes.

When asked about how many seats the ruling coalition could secure in today's vote, the President brushed off the question by saying that this was not the time to be talking about such things.

Voting in the parliamentary election began at 08:00 in the morning across the country and would continue till 17:30 this evening.

A total of 368 candidates are competing for 93 parliamentary seats with 7 political parties fielding 238 candidates. A total of 130 independent candidates are also competing in this election.

The Elections Commission has placed a total of 602 ballot boxes across the country and abroad.
