Authorities have dispatched a special team to Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo after a video of a disturbing attack against a child emerged from the island last night.
In a disturbing video on social media, a young boy is seen being verbally and physically abused by two other young boys. During last night's Tarawih prayers, the video was shot at a toilet in a mosque on Rasdhoo.
Authorities have said that they are aware of the video and that they have now identified the boy's tormentors. They said that the alleged tormentors include a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy.
The spokesperson for the Police Ahmed Shifan said that a special team has been dispatched to the island and that the team has begun its investigation.
He said in a post that the team includes members from the police force, staff from the gender ministry, home ministry, and the Juvenile Justice department.
