Maldives Food and Drug Authority MFDA has lifted its ban on the sale and use of Panadol after the completion of its quality check.

The MFDA began its investigation after tests of samples from the market found that some of the pills were crushed and detached around the pills. MFDA began its investigation last month and said that the medicine is likely to fail to provide benefits and effects.

MFDA said today that its investigation found that the 'Panadol' brand passed its quantitative test and that the samples have the required strength of the drug.

It also said that the issues detected may be related to not maintaining the transportation and storage protocols for such drugs. It further said that the batch with the issue has now been removed from the market and that it can confirm the batch's removal.

MFDA further said that from today onwards, the brand can be sold and used in the Maldives. It also urged importers and handlers to adhere to the guidelines set for the transportation and storage of such medicine and drugs in the Maldives.

The brand 'Panadol' is the most widely used pain killer in the Maldives and locals use it for fever, headaches and pain relief.
