Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar aimed heavy criticism at the former government over repairs of Addu Stadium.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the inter-school athletics tournament yesterday, Ali Nizar said the stadium has not been renovated for the past 10 years.
Nizar also said that the last MDP government had repeatedly requested the stadium to be repaired. " This stadium has not been painted in the last 10 years. I have asked the last government several times. This is a valuable asset of Addu city and it should not be allowed to deteriorate. However, the last government ended without doing anything," he said.

Nizar added that the government had soon handed over the work to someone while preparing to hold the inter-school athletics tournament in Addu. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the President and the Sports Minister," he said.
The Hithadhoo Zone Stadium has been renovated and repaired. The roof of the stadium has been repaired, and painted, water leaked inside the building and the ceilings damaged by water have been repaired.
