Certain jobs in the city council will be reserved for people with disabilities, said Aishath Azima Shakur, who is running for mayor of the city.

Speaking on Sangu TV's "Sangu Debate- Mayor Election" yesterday, Azima said that under Azima's mayorship, a separate quota will be allocated for children and people with disabilities.

Azima said that first of all, a register of people with disabilities will be compiled and other special assistance is needed for people with disabilities. Azima said the city council is running island schools and classes will be conducted for children with disabilities.

Azima said she would set up a municipal day care center where children could be cared for separately with their parents.

Azima added that she would not think that a child with disabilities would have to stay at home even after reaching the age of 18. She would give the most important priority to children with disabilities.
