The Vice President of the Elections Commission Ismail Habeeb says it is unlikely that the Commission would allow a political party to use the color purple as its color.
This comes after former President Abdullah Yameen's People National Front PNF decided to use purple as its color. The color purple is the color used by the Elections Commission.
Former President of the Commission Ahmed Shareef decided against allowing any political party to use the color as it is being used by the Commission.
Speaking to the Press today, Habeeb said that as purple color is reserved for the Commission, it would be highly unlikely that the Commission would allow a political party to use the color for representation.
He further said that purple had been used a lot in the Commission's new website.
A rift within the leadership of PPM and PNC made ex-President Yameen leave PPM and form his new party. The party applied for EC permission to form the party yesterday.
