Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has retired from his post.

A retirement ceremony was held for the departing commissioner at the Iskandar Building today. Home Minister Imran Abdullah along with First Lady Fazna Ahmed, high-ranking Police officers, and foreign dignitaries were at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hameed offered his gratitude to all those who helped him during his time at the Police force.

Hameed further said that till today he had worked with a lot of individual police officers and that every one of them worked with bravery and determination.

The outgoing Commissioner urged each and every member of the police force to act in a way that shows that upholding the integrity and honor of the force was a responsibility on their own shoulders.

Hameed said that he would remain at the frontlines of the work to make sure that the Maldives is peaceful and crime-free.

At the ceremony, the former Commissioner was awarded a plaque of honor, a retirement card, and the flag of the police service.
