Transitional Spokesperson Mohammed Firzul Abdullah Halil has said that 1,000 more people will be invited to the swearing-in ceremony of President Mohammed Muizzu.

The Parliament has decided to invite 3,500 people, including foreign leaders and dignitaries, to the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect next month.

However, speaking at a press conference held today as part of a series of news conferences, Firzul said they are working to open the opportunity for 1,000 more members of the public to attend the ceremony.

Article 114 of the Constitution states that a person elected as President and a person designated as Vice-President must be sworn in at a session of Parliament before taking office.

The swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Vice President-elect Hussain Mohammed Lateef is scheduled to be held on November 17 at Jumhuri Maidan. The opportunity to attend the ceremony is open to all foreign media.

Muizzu will become the seventh President of the Second Republic of Maldives. Counting with the first republic, he would become the second president of the Maldives.
