Maldives Red Crescent (MRC) has extended its deadline for the relief fund it opened to support the response and relief efforts carried out by the Palestine Red Crescent (PCRS) amidst the rapidly escalating Humanitarian Crisis in the Gaza Strip.
MRC opened its relief fund on the 14th of this month to answer PCRS's call upon the International Community and movement partners for intervention to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe that is unfolding in the enclave.
The deadline for the fund was initially set for the 28th of this month.
However, the MRC said that seeing how the siege on Gaza keeps changing and upon the request of many, the Organization has decided to extend the deadline till the 12th of next month.
MRC said that the PCRS has appealed to the organization to provide relief funds as soon as they can and MRC noted that it would start sending the funds to Palestine on the 28th of this month.
The Organization had said that until the 21st of this month, the emergency relief fund has received MVR 1,456,661.90.
MRC said that the raised funds will be directed to the Preliminary Emergency Appeal launched by the PRCS on the 10th of October which is targeted towards the delivery of humanitarian assistance such as the provision of First Aid and Health Services, fuel, and essential supplies for the operation of humanitarian facilities, transfer of the sick and wounded.
It also said that the funds would be used for the provision of clean water, sanitation, hygiene, shelter, basic relief items (including food, clothing, and household essentials), protection, and community engagement for the most vulnerable.
More than 6,500 Palestinians have been killed in relentless Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since the Hamas resistance group carried out its operation in Southern Israel earlier this month. Most of the casualties are children and women.
