Maldives Red Crescent MRC says the emergency relief fund it opened to support the response and relief efforts carried out by the Palestine Red Crescent (PCRS) amidst the rapidly escalating Humanitarian Crisis in the Gaza Strip has received MVR 1 million.
MRC opened its relief fund on the 14th of this month to answer PCRS's call upon the International Community and movement partners for intervention to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe that is unfolding in the enclave.
MRC said that until the 21st of this month, the emergency relief fund has received MVR 1,456,661.90.
The Organization said that the fund would be open until the 28th of this month.
MRC said that the raised funds will be directed to the Preliminary Emergency Appeal launched by the PRCS on the 10th of October which is targeted towards the delivery of humanitarian assistance such as the provision of First Aid and Health Services, fuel, and essential supplies for the operation of humanitarian facilities, transfer of the sick and wounded.
It also said that the funds would be used for the provision of clean water, sanitation, hygiene, shelter, and basic relief items (including food, clothing, and household essentials), protection, and community engagement to the most vulnerable.
More than 5,000 Palestinians have been killed in relentless Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since the Hamas resistance group carried out its operation in Southern Israel earlier this month. Most of the casualties are children and women.
