The Ministry of Health says it is investigating the death of Naseem Fauzi who allegedly died because of the negligence of the Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumale.

The family of the deceased said that Naseem died due to delays in receiving proper treatment and the negligence of Treetop.

Naseem, who was undergoing treatment for cancer, was taken to the tree top and his family said that the Hospital failed to update his caretakers on his condition.

His family also said that doctors, as well as nurses, had neglected the patient and that Naseem had complained that the patient call bell on his bedside did not work.

Health Ministry spokesperson Aiminath Sathufa told The Press that the ministry is investigating the negligence of Tree Top Hospital in the death of Naseem. She further mentioned that the Ministry is aware of the Social media posts circulating about other cases relating to the Hospital and that it was investigating these claims too.

The family of the deceased said that though the Hospital said that Naseem was getting better, he kept saying that his condition was worsening. They said the full extent of his condition was only revealed when Naseem was shifted to IGMH in Male' and that doctors at the hospital informed the family that Naseem was in critical condition.

The family said the summary report provided by Tree Top was also inaccurate. Naseem died of a fungal infection at 12:26 p.m. on Thursday while being treated on a ventilator.

Since then Naseem's family has been protesting in front of Tree Top Hospital every day and the matter has now been referred to the HRCM.

Various people have been sharing various incidents of Tree Top's negligence on social media.

Tree Top Hospital said it would investigate any complaints and concerns submitted to the hospital as soon as possible in consultation with the relevant authorities. Tree Top has asked customers to submit complaints through the hospital's email.
