The United States on Tuesday reiterated its commitment to strengthening energy cooperation with India, with a focus on building a long-term energy security partnership.
Speaking at the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) 3rd Energy Summit in New Delhi, Xiaobing Feng, Principal Commercial Officer at the US Embassy, highlighted the growing collaboration between Washington and New Delhi across the energy sector.
Feng recalled that during the February 2025 meeting between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both leaders reaffirmed their nations’ shared responsibility as “leading producers and consumers in shaping global energy markets” and committed to advancing cooperation in oil, gas, and civil nuclear energy.
“Energy remains fundamental to the economic growth of both India and the United States as we work to ensure our energy resources support innovation,” Feng said.
She noted that under President Trump’s administration, regulatory reforms, streamlined approvals, and policies promoting innovation have bolstered America’s role as a global energy leader.
Underscoring the importance of bilateral ties, Feng added, “The United States is committed to working with India in the face of global energy challenges.” She pointed out that the international energy landscape is undergoing major shifts due to geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions, making cooperation more crucial.
Feng outlined three priority areas where US–India collaboration can drive change: diversifying energy sources, strengthening infrastructure resilience, and leveraging American expertise in natural gas, nuclear power, and emerging clean technologies.
She further emphasized that US companies are keen to partner with Indian counterparts to develop smart energy solutions that ensure reliable and sustainable supply. (Source: ET)
