Incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says if there are no legal hurdles, President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will be sworn in as the next President of the Maldives on the 11th of November.

The President said this in his first Press Conference after losing the Presidential Run-Off to PNC Candidate Muizzu last Thursday.

President Solih said that in the Maldives new President's take their oath of office on the 11th of November and that the government is working to make sure that this remains the case.

President said that the government was seeking legal advice on the matter and that if there were no legal hurdles for it, the new President would be sworn in on the 11th of next month.

Though, the Maldivian President takes the oath of office on the 11th of November which is Republic Day, back in 2013 the date was pushed back because the Supreme Court canceled the results of the first round of voting and President Abdullah Yameen was sworn in on the 17th of November. Since then the Presidential term has counted as five years from the 17th of November.

But before he was sworn in, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih promised that he would not hold on to the 6 days that gets cut off from his term if the new President gets sworn in on the 11th of November.
