MNU Lecturer Ali Hafiz returns to the Maldives after getting treatments for the injuries he suffered in a hit-and-run accident back in June this year.

He returned home last night and sources have confirmed that he is now doing fine after sustaining serious injuries in the collision with a motorcycle.

Hafiz s was hit by a motorcycle while trying to cross the road on his way home after Fajr prayers and his condition was declared too serious for him to be transported on a commercial plane.

This prompted his family and friends to collect funds to hire an air ambulance that would take him abroad for much-needed medical treatment.

His family confirmed that Hafiz was sent to India and that his family and friends along with the staff from MNU, his students, and members of the public pitched in to hire the air ambulance.

While the motorist who hit the veteran lecturer fled the scene, Police arrested the 22-year-old yesterday under a court-issued warrant.

Many criticized the police for the delay in arresting the suspect but Police said later that they delayed his arrest as the suspect sustained serious injuries in the collision and was under treatment.
