PNC Presidential Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu promises to increase the allowance given to individuals who have completely memorized the Holy Quran (Haafiz or Haafiza) and to also give more attention to mosques across the country.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Fuvahmulah City last night, Muizzu, who is also the Mayor of Male' City, said appreciating the value of individuals who fully memorize the Holy Quran is currently in practice but that he would double the allowance issued to such individuals.

The government is currently issuing MVR 2,000 per month to such individuals but Muizzu said that he would make it MVR 4,000.

Muizzu also said that he has received concerns about the lack of an adequate number of Imams in mosques and that he would work to resolve the issue.

Noting that under his government he would give special priority to the maintenance of mosques, Muizzu said that each mosque should have a designated Imam and that he aims to assign two Imams for each mosque if elected.

The PNC Candidate also promised to increase the allowance given to single mothers and fathers saying that the current allowance is not feasible for such families.

Muizzu said that he would increase this allowance from MVR 2,000 to MVR 3,000 per child for up to four children from each family.

The Mayor of Male' City pledged to also find housing opportunities for those working at the Public media station PSM and the Maldives National University MNU. He further said that he would complete the housing flats allocated for MNDF personal and the Police as well as carry out more housing projects for the two security forces.
