Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed accuses MDP Presidential Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of using state funds to bribe parliamentarians and others.
His accusation came after the MP for Thoddu Constituency Hassan Shiyan rejoined MDP following his brief stint with Nasheed's The Democrats.
In comments on the social media platform 'X', Speaker Nasheed said that President Solih was using state funds to bribe MPs and others, and that too without fear.
The former President further said that President Solih would not gain anything from these actions and that the President only risks being exposed.
MP Shiyan rejoined MDP 10 days after MP for Kulhudhufushi Uthuru Constituency Yasir Abul Latheef also rejoined MDP along with the whole council of the northern city.
The team had also joined The Democrats when it was first established but later decided to join MDP.
The MPs were from the original 12 MPs who left MDP to form the Democrats after the MDP Discipline committee decided to expel the MP for Medhu Henveriu Constituency Ali Azim from the party.
But both left The Democrats after they isolated themselves from party activities amid the fierce Presidential Campaign ahead of the September elections.
