President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says there is no better location to develop island-based tourism than Haa Alifu Baarah in the north of the country.
He made the remarks at a rally on the island today during a campaign trip to the north.
President Solih said with the Hanimaadhoo Airport and the RTL ferry network, the whole of the North would be connected and that each island would see significant transformations.
Noting that Baarah was close to the Hanimaadhoo Airport, President Solih said that the island's future looked bright and urged the island's residents to remain prepared for tourism development.
President Solih further said that his administration would open a separate fund for guest house development in his next term and that it would facilitate loans for developers and operators.
The President went on to list the infrastructure changes being brought to the island, including establishing the water system, expanding the health center as well as building the futsal turf and outdoor gym.
He said that there were still other infrastructural developments the residents want and this include building a multi-purpose hall in the island's school and that he would build the hall in the early months of his next term.
