A 34-year-old man has been released after being arrested for allegedly entering a house in Male city. Ibrahim Sameen, of Madhuvaree, Dethandimaage was arrested and released on conditions.

After spending 55 days in custody, Sameen was released by the Criminal Court yesterday on condition that he should not influence the evidences against him. The Criminal Court also ruled that he does not poses a threat to society based on his criminal record.

Sameen requested to release him on conditions as he is a family man as well as a businessman.

Samin's order stated that the evidence other than the victim's statement was not directly linked to the crime. He said the victim had been extorted MVR 3.8 million and the case had been filed in the Civil Court. He also told the investigation that the victim had called and threatened him when he filed the case in the court.

Sameen was arrested after he appeared at the police headquarters early on May 24 night.

Sameen is accused of damaging property in an apartment after entering with a group of men in the city on May 2, threatened a resident with a sharp object and assaulted him with a dangerous weapon.
