The Democrats say it is set to open its main party center tonight and that it would be named 'House of Democrats'.
It said that the party center would be opened tonight at 08:30 and that the party center would be located in front of Artificial Beach in Henveiru Ward. The party said that the Speaker of the Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed would address the gathering tonight.
Nasheed also participated in the party's founding gathering held last Wednesday. The gathering was held after the Elections Commission granted permission to the party to hold its inaugural political rally ahead of processing the party's registration.
The party was founded by the breakaway faction created inside the ruling MDP following Nasheed's defeat in the party Presidential Primary at the hands of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih back in January.
Several members of the MDP leadership signed up for the Democrats including 13 MPs representing MDP at the parliament.
While many holding official positions have also switched sides to The Democrats, the administration of President Solih moved to dismiss these officials from the political posts.
