The Criminal Court cancels today's hearing in the Fuhgirri lease case against former President Abdullah Yameen and co-conspirator Ahmed Riza, Crick Riza.

In the Fugiri case, Yameen has been accused of accepting bribes and money laundering. His co-conspirator in the case, Ahmed Crick Riza has been accused of facilitating bribes as well as money laundering.

An official from the court confirmed to The Press that today's hearing was canceled after co-conspirator Riza filed a medical certificate.

This is the 3rd time a hearing in the case has been canceled due to Riza's health issues. The Court canceled the hearings scheduled on the 19th and 20th of last month because Yameen's co-defendant had been sick.

Recently, Yameen's defense expressed concern saying that rushing the trial against the former President over the sale of Raa Fuhggiri has hindered his appeal in the Vaa Aarashu case.

Their concern came after the former President sat through a 13-hour-long hearing of the case last month.

The defense said that while the hearings for this case were scheduled for three consecutive days, they had other cases that needed to be attended. Defense counsel Ali Shah commented that this case did not warrant day and night hearings.
