Police say two individuals have been injured in an accident that happened in the Southern City of Fuvamulah last night.
They said that the accident happened when two motorcycles collided with each other and that the collision was reported around 11:25 in the night.
Police stated that an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were injured in the accident and that both the victims were treated at the Fuvahmulah hospital.
They added that both motorists had valid driver's licenses and that they were further investigating the case.
Social media videos of the accident show two men on the ground after the collision and both appeared to be injured.
The videos also show several members of the public surrounding the accident victims.
Traffic accidents have grown common in the Maldives, both in the capital Male' and the inner islands.
Police said recently that in the first three months of this year, 539 accidents were investigated across the country.
Police identified that 341 out of the total accidents involved four-wheelers while a staggering 371 accidents involved motorcycles.
Police also said that 6 pedestrians were involved in accidents reported in the first 3 months of the year.
They said that 77 injuries were reported in the 1st quarter of traffic accidents and that no deaths were reported in these collisions.
