Police say a man under their custody at Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo Police Station escaped last night.
Police said that the suspect was arrested in relation to a drug investigation and that the suspect was taken to Dhandhoo station last night. They said that the suspect escaped from custody around 12:57 after midnight and that efforts are underway to locate the suspect.
While the Police have not divulged any further details about this case, a similar case resurfaced earlier this month in Raa Atoll Rasdhoo when a man detained at the police station on the island also escaped his cell.
The suspect was found near a lagoon off Rasdhoo.
