Islamic Ministry says it has received more than MVR 9 million as Fitr Zakat this Ramadan.
The Ministry said that until the 29th of Ramadan, it had received MVR 9,003,324.05 as Fitr Zakat payment. It said that within this period 175, 485 people made their Zakat payments this year.
The Ministry further said that 8,446 people have been listed in the poor and needy registry.
It said that the Ministry had released MVR 3,450 per head to 1,736 in the Greater Male' area and that these funds were released on the 20th of this month.
The Islamic Ministry also said that it received 12,989 kg of staple foods given as Fitr Zakat and that it had now released all these by last Thursday.
