Health Protection Agency HPA says it is working to strengthen measures to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic along with other sicknesses.
Answering a question from 'The Press', HPA said that COVID as well as other diseases are spreading fast in the country.
HPA said that it would increase the surveillance work to prevent the spread of illnesses like COVID and influenza and that they were working with healthcare centers in this regard.
The Agency further said that it was revamping its information campaign on the communicable diseases currently spreading within the population and that it was using its social media platforms for information sharing.
HPA said that it plans to hold refresher courses for health care centers to help them take measures against the rapid spread of diseases and on how to handle patients in numbers.
HPA also advised the public to take all necessary cautions to avoid the spread of diseases including wearing masks, washing hands, and seeking medical attention if they show symptoms.
The latest weekly COVID statistics released by the HPA showed that between 2nd April to 08th April, 84 people tested positive for COVID-19 and 73 were from the greater Male area.
This is a 45 cases increase from last week and HPA also reported that 17 people were hospitalized due to COVID this week.
