Health Protection Agency HPA reports 39 new cases of COVID-19 across the country between 26th March and 1st of this month.
This is the highest number of weekly cases the Agency had reported since November 2021.
HPA said that 29 out of the 39 cases were reported from the Greater Male' Area and that the remaining 10 cases were reported from resorts, vessels, and industrial islands.
HPA also said that in the last 7 days, there have been 16 new hospital admissions and reported that this was a serious jump from the last week as it was at 2.
The Agency confirmed that a total of 185,810 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Maldives since March 2020. HPA also said that the pandemic had claimed the lives of 311 individuals in the Maldives.
Meanwhile, 85 percent of the vaccine-eligible population has now been given the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
It also said that 37 percent of the vaccine-eligible population have been given 1st booster dose of the vaccine and that only 0.34 percent of the vaccine-eligible population received the 2nd booster dose of the vaccine.
While COVID-19 vaccination is now available to children between 5 to 11, only 0.10 percent has been given the vaccine.
