Police have arrested 4 individuals from last night's opposition protests after they impeded President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's motorcade.
Video on social media showed a few protesters approaching the motorcade and stopping it from moving forward when it approached the PPM's main office on Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu. It is the spot where the opposition has been holding its series of protests since the arrest of its leader and former President Abdullah Yameen.
The motorcade was stuck there for around 15 minutes before turning back. Protesters were seen approaching President's vehicle while armed security forces surrounded the motorcade.
Police said today that four individuals were apprehended in connection to the incident last night and that there were all men.
Police also said that another 17 individuals were arrested from the protest last night including 8 women and 9 men. Police said that they were arrested for obstructing the police in their line of duty.
They added that Police were investigating these two cases.
