Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid holds bilateral talks with Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar today, at Noonu Manadhoo.

The Foreign Ministry said that both sides had comprehensive, in-depth, and candid communication during the discussions. They reflected on the historic relationship between both countries and expressed commitment to furthering cooperation in priority areas.

During the official discussion, both Ministers noted the successful economic cooperation and the progress of projects that are being implemented under Indian grant assistance and line of credit schemes.

The Ministry said that both Ministers exchanged views and shared their visions relating to development cooperation, tourism cooperation, human resource development, multilateral engagements, and consular affairs between both countries.

Minister Shahid expressed gratitude to the Government of India for the constant support to facilitate and further develop economic, trade, and investment ties between both countries, and for India’s commitment to the socioeconomic development of the Maldives.

Minister Dr. Jaishankar is on a two-day official visit to the Maldives, keeping with the renewed tradition of high-level exchanges between the two countries.
