Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Miuvaan says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is not using state funds to bankroll his campaign for the MDP Primary.

Speaking at his regular press conference, Miuvaan said that the State has not funded any part of the President's campaign.

Miuvaan said that the government had allocated funds for the President's trips in the State budget. He further said that even if the President is involved in campaign activities, he would still be getting Presidential allowances.

Miuvaan highlighted that this includes security as well as support allowances and that the laws in the country do not prohibit these allowances.

He denied reports that the government was funding the President's campaign trips. The Presidential Spokesperson further said that the party and the campaign fundraising work were responsible for the financial backing of the President's campaigning.

This past week, the President made trips to the islands in the Central Atolls of the country and is scheduled to depart to Addu City tomorrow.

He is expected campaign on his trip to the Southern City.
