Kulhudufushi Regional Hospital says Faisal Abubaku who was found hanging in his cell after his arrest for allegedly murdering his wife is being treated on the ventilator.
The suspect's wife Nishaama Ahmed was found dead in their home in Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaram last Saturday and Police arrested the husband on the same day.
Speaking to 'The Press', Spokesperson at Kulhudhufushi Hospital Spokesperson Mohamed Moosa said that the suspect was in critical condition and that he was being treated on the ventilator.
Faisal was found hanging around 11:15 pm last night in the cell he was being held.
Police said that they were looking into how the suspect managed to hang himself in his cell and that the case would be investigated by the Human Rights Commission as well as the National Integrity Commission.
After Faisal was arrested last Saturday, he had been remanded in custody for 15 days by the court.
