Health Ministry has signed a contract with Gulf craft to procure 13 emergency Service sea vessles for MVR 13 million.

The Ministry said that these vessels would be procured under the project funded by the World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank named the 'COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness' project.

State Minister at the Health Ministry Ahmed Adil signed on behalf of the Ministry while Production General Manager at Gulf Craft Company signed on behalf of the company.

Under the Contract, Gulf Craft is obliged to deliver the vessels within 1 year of signing the agreement.

The Ministry detailed that the vessels would be used to transfer patients as well as to deliver laboratory samples and hold outreach programs.

This would help islands without laboratories as well as other islands that cannot do some laboratory tests due to the lack of equipment.

It further said that this would make it easier for the Ministry to conduct outreach programs by carrying specialist doctors to the islands.
