The missing crewman from a vessel that capsized off Kaafu Atoll Kaashidhoo has died after he was rescued by the Maldives National Defence Force MNDF coast guard.

The vessel traveling from India' Tuticorin to Male' capsized east of Kaashidhoo due to bad weather and MNDF received a report of a missing crewman yesterday morning.

MNDF launched a search and rescue mission to help find the missing man and found the man yesterday around 05:25 pm. MNDF said that the man was found yesterday evening around 5:25 pm and that the man had been taken to the IGMH hospital in Male.

The hospital later confirmed that the man was declared dead on arrival at the hospital and that the man was a 59-year-old foreigner.

A total of 7 crewmen had been traveling on the capsized vessel and MNDF confirmed that the remaining 6 crewmen had been brought to Male' last night. The 6 crewmen were rescued by a local boat named 'MV Baradhuvaaj'.
