Maldives Reform Movement MRM has urged its members not to leave the party just to compete in the elections organized by other parties.

In a statement, MRM said that it had come to its attention that many of its members are leaving the party to compete in the internal elections organized by other parties and this is unacceptable to the party.

MRM urged its members not to leave the party in this manner. It also said that it would always welcome new members to the party.

The party that was formed by ex-President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom almost three years ago has around 3,155 members.

Political party members leaving one party for another during internal elections is an issue that has been highlighted by the parties before.
