Maldives Police Services has attracted criticism after they announced that they were looking for a man who had in fact died last year.
Police had shared a post online summoning a man named Shakullah Ali to the Police for a case that was reported two years back. The man was summoned in relation to a money scam.
But since then it has been revealed that the man died last year. Social media posts of his funeral prayer announcement showed that he had died in June 2021.
While the Police error had been highlighted by several online users, many had aimed criticism at the Police for the glaring mistake.
This prompted a Tweet from the Police saying that they summoned the deceased individual due to an administrative error.
Police apologized for their mistake to the deceased's family and the public too.
They also assured that they would make sure that such mistakes are not repeated in the future and would take the necessary measures to prevent such errors.
