Amir al-Hajj of the Maldives, Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali has departed for the Hajj pilgrimage.
The Islamic Ministry said that the Minister would be joined by his wife on the pilgrimage.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced that the Islamic Minister would be leading this year's hajj pilgrims back in May. This is the first time the Maldives is sending pilgrims to Hajj since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier today, the President's Office revealed that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his wife First Lady Fazna Ahmed would be departing for the Hajj pilgrimage tomorrow.
The President and first couple would join around 453 Maldivians on the Hajj pilgrimage this year with the last batch of pilgrims departing last night.
Hajj Corporation had said that all the Maldivian pilgrims who had arrived in Saudi Arabia had settled at their designated hotels and that they are all doing well.
