Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has also denied reports that claim that MP for Thulhaadhoo constituency and President of the Judicial Service Commission had met Judge Ahmed Shakeel who is presiding over the case of former President Abdullah Yameen.
Local media outlet Sangu TV had reported that Judge Shakeel had met both MP Hisan and Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath last Sunday. The report also suggested that the meeting had taken place at midnight.
JSC had issued a statement denying the report saying that no such meeting had taken place.
Speaking at the parliament session today, Speaker Nasheed said that no such meetings should be allowed at such late hours and that no such meeting had even taken place.
Nasheed went on to say that spreading such false news is not in the interest of any party.
JSC had condemned the report by the local TV station saying that such news is aimed at tarnishing the commission's reputation and undermining its credibility.
