Police have arrested a man who vandalized the cars of three ministers by spraying 'India Out' on the hood of the cars.

The cars were vandalized while they were parked at the Velaana Office building that houses several government ministries and offices. The office is located inside the green zone of Male' which is considered a security-enhanced area.

The vehicles that were vandalized include Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail's car, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali's car, and Fisheries Minister Dr. Hussain Rasheed's car.

Photos of the vandalism had circulated on social media yesterday.

Police had said that the report of the vandalism was made around 07:30 am yesterday morning and that the suspect of the crime was arrested last night.

Police did not give any other information about the suspect who has been accused of spraying 'India Out' on a vehicle parked outside the parliament building.

While anti-India sentiment has been growing in the Maldives, similar incidents have popped up recently with suspects spraying the slogan on the wall of the family home of the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed and the door of the house of Defense Minister Maria Ahmed Didi.
