Elections Commission statistics show that in the last four years, the opposition PPM had submitted the highest number of falsified membership forms to the commission.
This comes amid heightened concerns that some political parties have been registering some citizens under the parties without their knowledge.
The statistics shared by the Commission with the media showed that in the last four years, PPM had submitted 391 falsified membership forms with the party bringing in 166 false forms in 2019 alone.
The government's majority political party MDP came in second following PPM after submitting 213 falsified membership forms from 2018 to 2022.
This year, the Adaalath party had submitted the highest number of falsified membership application forms with 65 out of the total 272 false forms submitted.
Elections Commission data showed that a total of 1208 false forms had been submitted between 2018 to 2022 and that the most false forms were submitted in 2019.
The Commission had previously said that it was working to rectify the issue by amending the Political parties' regulation and that it had now sent the amendments to the Attorney General's Office for review.
