Health Ministry has signed a contract with an Indian company to build hospitals on 4 islands spanning 4 atolls.

The contract signing ceremony was held today where the Ministry inked the contract for the design and construction of the hospitals with Telecommunication Consultants India Limited (TCIL).

The four hospitals to be built include 3 Atolls hospitals including the Haa Alifu Atoll hospital, Dhaalu Atoll hospital, and Gaafu Alifu Atoll hospital. It also looks to build an island-level hospital on Raa Atoll Alifushi.

Health Ministry had said that under this contract, the Atoll-level hospitals would be built on Haa Alifu Dhihdhoo, Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo, and Gaafu Alifu Villigilli.

It also clarified that all three Atoll hospitals would be built with a bed capacity of 50 while in Alifushi a 30-bed hospital would be constructed.

The project is estimated to cost MVR 57.2 million.
