Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH says it is probing the administration of expired vaccines to a group of children at Villimale' Hospital.

The issue from Villimale Hospital, a sister hospital to IGMH, was raised by the MP for Villimale Constituency Ahmed Usham who had tweeted earlier saying that several of his constituents had complained about the hospital administering expired vaccines to children.

IGMH had said that the issue had now come to its attention and that it was conducting a probe to get to the bottom of the problem.

The Hospital continued that it was investigating the matter with utmost seriousness and that Health Protection Agency HPA is also conducting an investigation into the matter.

IGMH also said that those responsible for the error would be made accountable for their actions and that it would be taking appropriate action against those responsible.

It added that since the matter was currently under investigation, vaccination has currently been suspended at the hospital.

Public Health Officials in the Maldives are yet to confirm or deny the incident and details of the vaccines given and how many children were affected remain unclear.
