Ministry of Higher Education says it has issued student loans to 393 individuals in the latest round of higher education development.
The Ministry had said that it had opened the opportunity for applications for 720 higher education loan schemes with some here in the Maldives and others abroad.
It said that around 1,000 students had applied for the loan and that the loans had been issued to 393 students.
In a further breakdown, the Ministry said that 125 students had applied for MBBS loans and that they were issued to just 25 students. While 252 students had applied for loans to study to become a pilot and all who applied had been granted loans.
It added that 31 students had applied for loans to pursue Ph.D. studies.
While the Ministry had announced the temporary list of student loan recipients, it had said that the Ministry would accept complaints about the list until the 24th of this month.
