Police have apprehended a Pakistani cook of a local restaurant after he had fled the scene of a suspected homicide following a scuffle between the suspect and a Bangladeshi waiter working at the restaurant.
Police had confirmed yesterday that the victim of the homicide was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after the incident at Khanji restaurant in Hulhumale.
They later identified the suspect as Muhammad Abid, a 26-year-old Pakistani national who had fled the scene of the crime and was wanted on suspicion of the homicide. Police issued a warning to the public saying that the suspect was deemed dangerous and cautioned the public not to approach him.
Police have now confirmed that they have arrested the 26-year-old and that this case is being investigated by the Serious and Organized Crime Department of the force with utmost diligence.
