Former President Abdullah Yameen says nothing has come from MDP winning the supermajority as he aimed harsh criticism at the ruling party.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Lhaviyani Kurendhoo, Yameen said that PPM does not require a majority from all the regions in the country. He said that PPM aims to halt the country from falling further into destruction.

The former president pointed out that the country has seen what has happened when MDP acquired a supermajority after winning both the last presidential and parliamentary elections.

He took the example of the Shaviyani Atoll Komadoo constituency for whose parliament seat MDP and two opposition parties competed earlier and the MDP candidate came out stronger.

Yameen said while money projects were announced in the run-up to the election for the constituency, now that MDP has secured the seat the projects may never see the light of day.

The projects announced include connecting Komandoo and Mathi Komandoo as well as building an ice plant on Komandoo.
