Police say that the pick-up load of drugs seized last night was Male' was smuggled into the country via air.
Police had seized the drugs while it was being transferred on a pick-up on Sosun road of Male' last night. In the anti-narcotics operation, Police had stopped the vehicle and thoroughly searched the pick-up before placing the seized packets on the side of the road.
Police said that in the operation that was carried out after a tip-off from Maldives Customs Services, 4 individuals were arrested for the possession of drugs.
They said that the four individuals apprehended included 2 locals and 2 Bangladeshi nationals and that all four were between the ages of 27 and 37 years.
Police said that the seized drugs came up to 17 kg.
They are actively investigating the case.
