Gender Minister Aishath Mohamed Didi says different fields have responsibilities they should shoulder in order to bring about gender equality in the country.
She made these comments in her remarks to mark International Women's Day being celebrated today worldwide.
Minister Aishath said that the purpose of celebrating women's day is to ensure the rights of women in the country, as well as to acknowledge the milestones achieved in improving the conditions of women in the country and empowering women in the Maldives.
She further stressed that it is a good opportunity to encourage the works of those who are striving to establish gender equality in the country as well as hear out their concerns to further enhance their work.
Minister also highlighted that the United Nations had set "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow " as the theme for this Women's day and said that it is important to emphasize the role of women in the actions taken against climate change and adaptations and learn more about their experiences in this manner.
The Gender Ministry noted that different fields must shoulder responsibilities in the bid to establish gender equality in the country as the Ministry alone cannot achieve this.
