President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has returned home to the Maldives following a successful surgery in Singapore.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed who had accompanied the President also returned home as the First Couple touched down in Male' last night.

The President had departed to Singapore last month following advice from his doctors to get treatment for his Thyroid condition abroad.

He had then announced that he had to get surgery and had said that he would be temporarily stepping aside from his role as President and leaving them to Vice President Faisal Naseem while the President went under the knife.

Vice President Faisal was then sworn in as President the following Friday but hours later President Solih resumed his duties having had a successful surgery.
