Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that currently there are more than 15,000 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
HPA said yesterday that 2,707 new cases were reported from across the country on Monday and that 1,420 new cases came from the Greater Male' Area.
It added that the positivity rate in the capital is now at 33 percent.
The Agency further said that it had confirmed 761 new cases from the inhabited islands and 94 new cases operational resorts. It added that 3 cases were confirmed from the safaris and that it is yet to determine the location of 429 cases reported yesterday.
The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the island nation to a staggering 120,168 since March 2020.
HPA also confirmed that there are 15,721 active cases of the pandemic in the country. It also said that the number of hospitalized COVID patients has now reached 52.
The Agency confirmed that 104,164 people have recovered from the illness in the country.
The global pandemic has killed 270 individuals in the Maldives with mostly elderly locals with underlying illnesses succumbing to the pandemic.
