Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 954 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Saturday as the spike in cases continues in the country.
HPA said yesterday that out of the 954 cases reported, 514 were from the Greater Male' Area where the positivity rate has now reached 14 percent.
The Agency reported another 326 cases from the inhabited islands as well as 36 cases from the operational resorts and 6 new cases from safaris. HPA further said that it has yet to determine the locations of 72 new cases reported yesterday.
The new cases take the total number of cases to a staggering 102,372.
HPA had said that currently there are 4,877 active cases of the pandemic in the country and that the number of hospitalized COVID patients has now reached 23.
It confirmed that 97,217 people have now recovered from the illness.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 265 individuals in the Maldives. HPA had also said that the total number of positives include 13 deceased positive whose cause of death was not directly due to COVID.
